WORLD RECORD CHALLENGE On Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 a group of 19-seniors from ages 72 to 101, sponsored by U.S. Veterans’ Rowing & Kayaking Foundation, set a combined 30 world and American records! There were 12-World and 18-American Concept 2 records that have been set. WHO IS VETERANS ROWING & KAYAKING FOUNDATION? U.S. Veteran’s Rowing & Kayaking Program is a non-profit volunteer organization in Connecticut to support our military Veterans that suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and other health related issues. The virtual indoor race with the highest participation took place on Marcha 28th 2020 with an accredited number of 15.210 participants. This test was organized by Daniel Martino (Argentina 1.976) It was a test organized as a tribute to the Argentine health teams who contacted courage and enthusiasm faced the pandemic, hence its title: “20 minutes for health”. The race, promoted from Facebook , already had at 2 hours with 1000 inscriptions, although in the beginning Daniel had more doubts than certainties. In this race, a nurse made a few minutes of the event from the guard of a hospital, that was what mobilized them the most, it was incredible and exciting to see her run almost on tiptoe so as not to make noise through the corridors of the hospital, symbolically she was declared winner of the event, although for us all are winners. OWR certifies that calligrapher Go HA YOUN (pen name:Pungheon) has established a new Official World Record for the World’s Largest Number of Calligraphy Works on a Folding Screen: Between 1994 and May 30, 2014, calligrapher Go HA YOUN (pen name: Pungheon), has completed a calligraphy work consisting of 900 pok of jeonseo, a kind of ancient Chinese calligraphy style, 1,698 pok of yeseo, 258 pok of haeseo, 6,411 pok of haengseo, 2,238 pok of choseo, and 204-pok of hangeul. The piece measures 16,275.51 meters, with a total of 11,709 pok and 1,335 jil (set). 1 pok: a page of traditional Korean paper measuring 35 cm (width) and 138 cm (height length) This folding screen is comprised of exquisite pieces of oriental calligraphy. What is amazing about this piece is that 11,709 screens were written by a single person.

The Art of cutting goes back to the middle ages and is certainly especially known from the Tameshigiri, which means «test-cut» Rice or Rush straw was the material that was mostly used to test the sword and the skills of the swordsman. In this attempt we chose to use rush straw as well. The mats (Tatami Omote) have been rolled together until each became at least 10cm in diameter. The mats were about 90cm in length and divided into at least four sections which had to be no larger than 15cm. The weight of a mat was about 3.5kg to 4kg.
