The ultra-runner Rafael Granados Flores (1976), native of Córdoba, Spain, is the person who has run the most kilometers in a properly organized and verified event within the walls of a penitentiary center. Specifically, it was in the provincial prison of Córdoba, where Rafael was serving his sentence .

This race took place on December 4, 2005 and we echo it more than 15 years later because the mark has not yet been overcome and to be speakers of the message and the example that Rafael represents.

Today, wrapped between competition and future record events, he consecrates his life between his family and motivational talks to young people at risk of exclusion to whom he instills the values ​​of effort and self-improvement.

The event took place on December 4, 2005 in prison province of Córdoba, giving 400 laps to the soccer field of this center with 250 meters of perimeter.

At that time 29-year-old Rafael was serving his sentence and due to passion and faculty that he showed he managed to get his penitentiary center and the Junta de Andalucía to organize this unique event that had him running 9 hours 29 minutes and 51 seconds and where he was supported by athletes from the province, fellow inmates and the support of Ana, his wife and his son Erix, then little.

The only event that can come to resemble it is a marathon that is run in the San Quintín prison, the oldest in California (USA) that takes place every year but does not have specific dates as it must be adapted to prison policy.
