WORLD RECORD CHALLENGE On Saturday 6th June, Marc Guillemot smashed the solo North Atlantic record for a monohull with a time of 8 days, 5 hours, 20 minutes and 20 seconds – or 15 hours, 48 minutes and 11 seconds less than the previous record set by the British skipper Alex Thomson in July 2012. Finishing at 0439hrs UTC (0639hrs CET), the skipper of Safran covered the 2880 miles of the distance between New York and The Lizard at an average speed of 14.59 knots. U.S. Veterans’ Rowing & Kayaking Foundation (USA) and David vs. Goliath Hungarian Foundation of Hungary (HU), president and founder of both, Paul-Stephen Varszegi, returned to his native country with the aim of helping the Hungarian Rowing Association to become a prominent member of the world indoor rowing community. Based on data from Concept2 (http://www.concept2.com), an organization that records and publishes all the world’s indoor rowing records, starting on April 1, 2019, the Hungarian men’s team finished the year with a world record of 72 indoor rowing records in the men’s Para-rowing category, ahead of second-placed Great Britain, who reached 67. The beginning of the year 2021 has witnessed a record of true height, the couple of young but experienced climbers Janja Garnbret and Domen Skofic have reached the top of the chimney of the already ablaze power station using the physical phenomenon of the coal thermal plant with a height of 360 meters. It is the Trbovlje plant in Slovenia, which was inaugurated in 1976 and was operational until 2014. We must be aware that this chimney is the highest in Europe and has become a center of interest for climbers from all over the world. 13 lengths have been established that are in a range of difficulty between 7b and 8b + (for those of you who are not experienced climbers, know that these are levels of great difficulty). The virtual indoor race with the highest participation took place on Marcha 28th 2020 with an accredited number of 15.210 participants. This test was organized by Daniel Martino (Argentina 1.976) It was a test organized as a tribute to the Argentine health teams who contacted courage and enthusiasm faced the pandemic, hence its title: “20 minutes for health”. The race, promoted from Facebook , already had at 2 hours with 1000 inscriptions, although in the beginning Daniel had more doubts than certainties. In this race, a nurse made a few minutes of the event from the guard of a hospital, that was what mobilized them the most, it was incredible and exciting to see her run almost on tiptoe so as not to make noise through the corridors of the hospital, symbolically she was declared winner of the event, although for us all are winners. The Art of cutting goes back to the middle ages and is certainly especially known from the Tameshigiri, which means «test-cut» Rice or Rush straw was the material that was mostly used to test the sword and the skills of the swordsman. In this attempt we chose to use rush straw as well. The mats (Tatami Omote) have been rolled together until each became at least 10cm in diameter. The mats were about 90cm in length and divided into at least four sections which had to be no larger than 15cm. The weight of a mat was about 3.5kg to 4kg. The idea behind this attempt, was to prove that the european swords where just as good in cutting purpose, as a katana for example. The ultra-runner Rafael Granados Flores (1976), native of Córdoba, Spain, is the person who has run the most kilometers in a properly organized and verified event within the walls of a penitentiary center. Specifically, it was in the provincial prison of Córdoba, where Rafael was serving his sentence . This race took place on December 4, 2005 and we echo it more than 15 years later because the mark has not yet been overcome and to be speakers of the message and the example that Rafael represents. Today, wrapped between competition and future record events, he consecrates his life between his family and motivational talks to young people at risk of exclusion to whom he instills the values of effort and self-improvement. Iván Penalba López is an ultra-long distance runner born in Alfafar (Valencia) specialized in long-distance road and track races, specifically in the 12 and 24-hour distances, where he has repeatedly managed to break the records of Spain in different locations ( South Africa, Germany, Spain and Taiwan). Although his mastery of the specialty is overwhelming, he has never been an interior runner, hardly using the treadmill for stress tests or very specific situations according to his condition as a top athlete. He had never entered his plans to run an ultra distance on cover. Longest distance completed on a Pump Track bycicle without pedalling or stopping
The New Zealand cyclist Jason Connor, specialist in the thriving specialty of Pump Track, obtained a spectacular Official World Record on October 11, 2020. The Record consisted in circling a circuit (Velosolutions) for almost an hour without pedaling or stopping at any time. The circuit was 222 meters long and 1.3 wide. Jason Connor with the support of Red Bull managed to reach a distance of 25.01 kilometers in a time of 57 minutes and 34 seconds. The event also aimed to obtain this Official World Record to raise funds for the Keep a Breast organization in its fight against cancer. The beautiful event that was the focus of the attention of the entire community was supervised by Philip Coles member of the Waipa Council who gave him the Certificate of Record and the trophy.

30h World Record – Alberto Lorente This last Sunday 28th June at 5pm Alberto Lorente completed a 30 hours swim, the longest continuous swim in a counter current pool. He set out this challenge for a donation campaign to benefit Ronald McDonald House who helps to keep families with sick children to stay together during long-term hospitalization. The challenge took place in a private house from one of his friends in Cardedeu, Catalonia, Spain, starting on the 27th June at 11am. Surrounded by his family and closest friends, full of energy, fresh and with a big smile on his face, Alberto started to swim. Two hours and a half after the start he made his first “pit stop”, drinking and eating to be able to keep swimming for the next 27,5h. Two consecutive Ironman distance triathlons unrested
On the day of the event his team picked him up at 6am to drive him to the River Tees in Yarm, as the entry and exit points are limited, they had to walk down the river bank 600 meters before entering the water. Due to the exit points they had to swim over the 2.4 miles in order to get out at a convenient place this added on a few hundred yards each time. On getting out the team drove him back to safe roads which started at his house in Redcar where they set off to complete the 112 miles bike ride. This all went well and they started the 1st Marathon. The Fastest Run Across the Landes Region of France
On the 21 st of June 2021 Philippe Richet(born 17 th September 1968) from Mont-de-Marsan in France ran across the Landes region in France in an incredible time of 11 hours 17 minutes and 48 seconds. The 106 kilometre run began in Arthez d”Argmanac on the border with Gers on the west side of Landes at 05.50 and crossed the entire region heading east finishing on the Atlantic coast at the town of Contis at 17.05. Philippe was accompanied on his record setting run by the children of the IME Lesperon, part of the Caminante association which specializes in the education of autistic children. The children ran in relay with Philippe each taking part in stages to provide the much-needed motivation for Philippe on his endurance run. Seven-time Grand Tour winner, Alberto Contador (Spain), has set a new Everesting record in a time of 7 hours, 27 minutes and 20 seconds. The record, set on Tuesday, July 7,(2020)on a steep,gently arcing segment of the climb of Silla del Rey in Castile and León, Spain, beats the mark recently set by Lachlan Morton (EF Pro Racing) by some two and a half minutes. The 37-year-old Contador, who retired at the end of the 2017 season as one of the most successful Grand Tour riders of all-time, has clearly stayed in shape in his retirement. The ‘Parte final – Silla del Rey’ segment on which he set the new record, averaging 13% over 0.96 km, required Contador to ride 78 laps to reach the altitude of Mount Everest.
